Egypt’s Environment Minister Yasmine Fouad has officially launched a significant eco-tourism development project in the village of El-Gharqana, situated within the Nabq Protected Area in Sharm El-Sheikh. This initiative is a key component of the “Green Sharm” program, developed in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The goal of the project is to transform the Red Sea resort into a model of sustainable tourism while preserving the unique cultural heritage of the local Bedouin community.
The eco-tourism project aims to enhance the natural beauty of the region while providing economic opportunities for the local population. By promoting responsible tourism practices, the initiative seeks to attract visitors who are interested in experiencing the rich biodiversity and cultural significance of the area. This development is expected to boost the local economy and create jobs, thereby improving the quality of life for residents. The project reflects Egypt's commitment to sustainable development and environmental conservation as it positions itself as a leading eco-tourism destination.
