A groundbreaking climate action training programme has been introduced for tourism destinations, marking a significant step towards sustainable tourism practices. The initiative, named 'Destination Climate Champions', is designed specifically for professionals working within Destination Management Organisations (DMOs) and National Tourism Organisations (NTOs).
This innovative course is the first of its kind to be offered at no cost, enabling a wider range of participants to engage with vital climate education. The programme is made possible through the generous sponsorship of Expedia Group, highlighting the importance of collaboration between the private sector and sustainable tourism advocates.
The training aims to equip DMOs and NTOs with the necessary tools and knowledge to address climate challenges effectively. Participants will learn about best practices in sustainability, strategies for reducing carbon footprints, and ways to promote eco-friendly tourism. This initiative represents an important step forward in empowering destinations to take meaningful action against climate change.
